Chillin Like A Villain [Open]

Garrett had every original intent to just study today. Then again, things never went as he had originally planned them. More often than not he found himself wandering around instead of staying put and doing his homework like he knew he probably should. Well, there wasn't much help for that, so instead he found himself wandering around. Dressed in a gray t-shirt, blue jeans, and black and gray tennis shoes with a black zip-up hoodie worn over it, he found himself making his way to the Courtyard, a place he had been to a few times. He usually came here just to relax, so it was definitely interesting that he found himself here, as he was looking to relax for a bit. Maybe if he was lucky someone would show up and he'd have someone to talk to. Or maybe, as he noticed, there was someone already here sitting and minding their own business. Sighing a bit, he sat down on a bench away from where the other person, not really wanting to disturb them from whatever they were doing. They seemed to be studying, or reading at the very least. Shrugging, he laid down on the bench, letting himself fall asleep. He may have been asleep for about half an hour before waking up, noticing that the other person was actually heading his way.

When the sun was still strong enough to warm the air and snow hadn't yet fallen, Quill took the opportunity to go outside. Usually an overcast of dark clouds made it unpleasant to roam the grounds but the young man was tired of the stuffy walls of the castle. From his dormitory he watched the beauty of the campus and the loneliness he felt made him want to partake in the mild weather. Because of the importance his parents forced on him of the NEWTs, Quill was spending more and more time studying and not enough on himself or friends. The Slytherin recalled of first and second year, before he was old enough to visit Hogsmeade, how he and his small group of chums would gather in a hill and just talk and laugh. His heart fell when he wondered where any of those friends were and regretted not focusing time on them anymore. A little time away from schoolwork would do him some good on a personal level as well as sociable.

Grabbing nothing but a Muggle novel and his wand, Quill exited the common room and dungeons quickly. The book was one his Muggleborn mother had suggested and Quill only read it because without friends there wasn't much else to do. Though the story wasn't a page-turner, he admired the characters and found interest in knowing what each would do next. As he reached the large double doors of the castle entrance, Quill sighed realizing he cared more about fictional people than he did anyone at Hogwarts. The fruition melted his brain through his golden hair like a dangerous epiphany.

Once outside, Quill debated with himself whether he should explore the grounds or stay inside the courtyard and just read. Around him were the sounds of friends conversing and enjoying themselves. He chose to stay silently on a bench. His fingers pushed through the yellow pages of his book but his blue eyes hovered the scene around him. Hogwarts was restless and a continuous buzz fogged over it like an aura. Birds sang, fairies hummed, students chatted and small breeze waved through trees and licked the blades of grass below Quill. He just wanted to relax but everything was awake.

Ignoring the liveliness, Quill opened his book to the marked page and tried his best to absorb the words. Too distracted, he failed and in that moment he noticed another boy in the courtyard. Quill didn't see where he came from and at first it was startling to see him there. Peripherally he watched the boy and wondered if he could make a new acquaintance. All luck was gone, though, as the newcomer stretched out on his bench and closed his eyes. Quill almost gasped with shock, surprised that anyone could sleep through such noise. He didn't want to gawk but it was really strange that someone would leave the castle, where common rooms had comfortable sofas and dormitories had actual beds, to nap on a bench outside. A snort escaped Quill's nose and a smirk appeared on his lips as he thought about the weird kid.

After twenty-five minutes and forty seconds, according to his watch which he had been checking frequently in his boredom, Quill rose from the bench. His book slammed as he forced the covers together. He hoped the sound would rouse the other boy from sleep and sure enough, Quill watched as the figure on the bench next to his shivered. Like a spring Quill drew near to the boy.

"Er...are you alright?" Quill asked with a troubled tone, faking concern. He hoped he could play off his interest as worry not wanting the boy to know Quill was just curious and lonely. "I saw you pass out and I wasn't sure if you were just tired and bored or you need to go to the hospital."

[GARRETT MICHAEL STONE]

"Hm? Yeah, I'm fine. Just got bored sitting around. Happens every time I'm out here and just sit around without bringing anything to distract me from the boredom. I just gotta remember to bring something like that next time around," he replied with a laugh. He wasn't the best at catching false behaviors, but he could sense some insincerity from the older student. Well, maybe his joking would lighten things up. Then again, if it was another arrogant Slytherin, he'd rather puke than listen to him spew any kind of nonsense like pureblood domination and crap like that. He couldn't stand people who did that! It was the single most annoying thing in the world! Him being a halfblood didn't help matters either, as that just made the purebloods even more annoying if they were the purist type. There were some cool purebloods, like the Auror Matt Johanson, but otherwise it was still a battle to convince the purists that they were running the risk of ending the wizarding world since there was no real way a small group could successfully keep the population up and going. Well, that was just how things went was his sad guess, though he really didn't want to think like that.

[SLOAN AVERY]

Sloan began reminiscing on his days here in Hogwarts, by taking in the fresh air whilst he walked through the courtyard he overheard a distant conversation taking place it was two young chaps one a slytherin boy the other a griffindor, He smirked with contensiousness as seeing the young griffindor brought back sullied memories of a past Sloan had chosen to forget in his heart Sloan knew that holding a grudge against the house of godric would only make his transition more climactic,so Sloan decided to introduce himself to the boys, as Sloan approached the two students he said loud and clear "well well if isn't this a sight to see a griffindor and a slytherin on good terms" (he chuckeled slightly) Then he turned to the slytherin boy and said " my name is Sloan Avery and im the new Head for slytherin house and the new DADA teacher he then turned to the griffindor boy and gave him a glare and said you should probably run along.

Thankfully, the younger boy was responsive to Quill in a positive way. The Slytherin knew of the ancient tradition in Hogwarts for Gryffindor students to be wary of those in Quill's own house. As for him, he didn't see the point in house rivalry. To Quill, where one came from didn't define a person. Among his own house there were many who prided themselves in being pure bloods but Quill himself was the son of a Muggleborn witch and a pure blood wizard. To think purity was anything special would be hypocritical. Sadly, though, he didn't go around advertising his blood status, especially to other Slytherins. He was grateful that the boy in front of him was eager to reply in a friendly manner rather than waving him off rudely.

"I'm glad to know you're healthy," Quill told him, this time with honesty. "Sorry if I interrupted your snooze. I'm just...er...bored. Though my mum always says only boring people can be bored. What does that say about me then?" He chuckled lightly at his comment. It wasn't usually difficult for Quill to make small talk, his father was an expert and left an impression on the boy. But it had been a rough term for Quill when it came to socializing and at that moment he felt a bit of fear in meeting a new person.

"I know what you mean about bringing something to distract you. I have this book but it isn't really peaking my interest at the moment." He paused a breath and then, "Quillan Donnag, by the way." Properly, he extended his hand at the introduction and smiled.

From behind him, Quill heard light footsteps and then an arrogant voice. As if mocking them the man, Slytherin's head of house, chimed in with what seemed to be his displeasure at two students conversing. This confirmed what Quill had already presumed, that the boy in front of him was a Gryffindor. His eyebrows furrowed as he looked at the professor, flabbergasted at how judgmental he came off about the house difference in the acquaintances. Quill shook his head, not caring if the man saw his disgust. No one at school should feel belittled and definitely not by an instructor.

"Professor Avery," Quill sniffed coldly, "you really shouldn't barge in on other people's conversations and then ask them to leave." It wasn't like him to disrespect those in authority. A bead of sweat bore on the young man's neck as he imagined the effect his cheeky remark would cause. As the perspiration increased on his body Quill added, "Sir."

[GARRETT MICHAEL STONE]

Before responding to Quillan, Garrett sighed slightly at the teacher who glared at him. This was going to be one very, very long day. "Well my apologies for thinking that the wizarding world was free from inter-house rivalries and bias. I guess I'll have to continue my conversation with Quillan here another day," he replied to the teacher, standing up off of the bench and sighing again. He turned his face towards Quillan and gave a nod. "Name's Garrett Stone by the way. At least so I didn't leave without returning the introduction," he said before waving at the Slytherin and leaving, making sure to avoid muttering anything negative about the professor while he was still in earshot. If anything, he might just go talk to his cousin, or his cousin's brother-in-law, who was at the school already. Why did there have to be such an arrogant professor at Hogwarts? It pissed Garrett off, and it was definitely something that needed to be rectified quickly, or there would be more complaints than Hogwarts could handle. Garrett was not above calling people out, but he did know that calling out Professor Avery would be a serious problem. Well, he just had to be patient and bide his time.

[SLOAN AVERY]

Professor Avery declared " Mr.Stone don't forget to do your DADA studies your going to need to know how to protect yourself " watching as the Gryffindor strolled off into the distance Sloan felt content with his actions. Not forgetting the other boy Sloan quickly turned about face and grabbed the slytherin by his tie and in a aggressive tone commented " Don't you know what house your in your better than that filth you should act like it " After his little outburst, Sloan regained his composure. The slytherin house has always held the pure breed wizards you should be proud of your house commented Sloan to the young slytherin; Sloan put his arm around the boy and stated " I've got big plans for Hogwarts "  and I'm going to need someone reliable what do you say boy?

[AARON THOMPSON]

This wasn't looking like it was going to be a good day for Aaron. He was definitely not happy that his cousin-in-law had been bullied away from talking to a Slytherin student just because the professor that had done the bulling was the Slytherin head of house and apparently didn't quite like inter-house mingling. This was just not a good day, and he wasn't too eager for the conversation that he was on his way to have with his colleague. Dressed in a dark gray suit with a white button up shirt, black boots and belt, and a navy blue tie, Aaron had his wand in his pocket, and was quite ready if anything got serious. The problem though was that he just didn't like the idea that people just couldn't get along. What was the issue with people breaking down the inter-house barriers and just talking to their schoolmates? It was an issue that was as old as the castle itself. It was stupid, moronic, and definitely foolishness beneath the dignity of a teacher, much less a head of house. Arriving in the courtyard where it appeared that Sloan Avery was lecturing the Slytherin student that Garrett had been talking to, Aaron sighed before stepping in. "Professor Avery, a word if you will," he said, his face looking grim as he looked at his co-worker, not wanting to show the contempt that he really had for the older teacher.

[QUILLAN DONNAG]

Garrett left and as he walked a disappointed Quill missed his chance at gaining a new friend. Worse than that, though, he was left alone with the very annoying Professor Avery. The young man recalled the last head that Slytherin had and quietly wished for him back. It wasn't right that Avery was a teacher not just how he treated his students but because Quill sensed something in him. Sure, Avery had been in Slytherin so it was obvious he had some ambition in him. Quill could see something more to him than that. A glint in the eye of danger, maybe. It wasn't right for adults to care about which students befriended each other if it was harmless. The whole thing felt childish or at least petty.

Vexed by Avery's scolding words, Quill rolled his eyes. He was an adult himself and even though a student of the older man he didn't want to be chastised for something puerile. It was when Avery grabbed him did Quill get attentive and hostile. The professor had another thing coming threatening him like that and spewing nonsense about filth. The Donnags were good people and taught their son who the real filth were. Quill frowned when Avery mentioned purity in the Slytherin house. The young man wondered how his professor would react if he knew about Quill's background.

In a blink, Professor Avery was cool again. He wrapped an arm around Quill and the seventh year shivered uncomfortably. The instructor spoke to him as if recruiting for something sinister. Quill shimmied out of Avery's grasp and didn't try hard enough to be gentle with the man. If only laying a professor out with a fist to the face wasn't punishable.

"Sir, I have to kindly decline," Quill stammered with rage in his voice. "The only person I'm loyal to is myself."

Like an answered prayer, another professor arrived on the scene. Quill sighed with relief. Professor Thompson called Avery over and the young Slytherin took his chance to get away. He rushed to where Garrett had slumped off and called for him.

"Garrett! Wait up!"

[SLOAN AVERY]

Sloan felt angered at the fact that the young slytherin would brush him off so easily, He stated " go on then "  seems as if I have a more pressing issue To attend To. Sloan heard from over his shoulder a whiny voice call his name,Sloan turned to face the individual that called to him "Ahh Professor Thompson" proclaimed Sloan with an agitated undertone he then remarked " what grants this delightful visit from the potions professor " Sloan noticed that the potions professor had his hand in his pocket this made him very uneasy, why don't you let me see your hands sneered Sloan as not knowing what this young wizard was capable of caused him the agitation he was feeling. Sloan began to circle the young professor trying to get a better read on him but it was to no avail his mind was blocked,Sloan knowing how to get under the skin of just about anyone Remaked " Aren't you just a little out of your league here "

[AARON THOMPSON]

"Maybe, maybe not. But your petty childishness shows just what little dignity you have. Unfortunately for you, Professor Avery, your attempts to read me will be futile. So you won't have any idea what I'm going to do if you so much as try anything," he replied, his eyes becoming flinty. He was not about to let Avery push him around. He hadn't spent a year or two abroad studying the air, and had become a pretty skilled duelist if he said so himself. His mastery of Legilimency was perhaps the best thing he could have done, as he could read others and protect himself just as easily. That alone made this at worst an even fight between himself and the older Avery. He was an open book, but he had learned to shut himself off when necessary, something that he found extremely useful when dealing with people like Avery. He only wished that the Headmaster would fire the older man just because of his attitude towards the students. Ambition was fine, but to declare others to be useless just because they aren't of the same house was something else entirely, and Aaron hated people like that. His past notwithstanding, Aaron had made his efforts to erase inter house boundaries in the past, having married a Slytherin alum who had graduated when he had. Why couldn't people understand that hate bred conflict?

[SLOAN AVERY]

A slight arrogance was exuded by the young professor which Sloan picked up on right away and it caused him to postuer himself in such a manor that would seem foreboding, Sloan slowly began to reach for his wand as he began on the offensive.Sloan then drew his ash wand and with viscious intent  aimed at the potions professor and snarled "You think that you can come at me as you have and not face the consequences of your actions" watch your tongue you might bite off more the you can chew. Sloan consider how this would all take place 
Or if it should but the brash young professor had forced his hand there was no turning back now.
